Taylor McConnell, LMHC

Taylor-McConnellYou’re standing in a museum and looking back and forth between two pictures. One picture represents a person who has experienced difficult moments in time, either reoccurring or stand-alone experiences. They are often overwhelmed, reactive, and their logical brain says no when their emotional brain says yes. Maybe they have a clear understanding of what got them to this point or maybe they have no idea–they just know they want something to change. For their life to look different, to be more in control of their reactions and responses in situations.

The other picture is that person, maybe it’s you, at some point in the future. You’re more confident, self-assured, and in control of your responses. You have a greater clarity and compassion towards the person in the other picture, have words to understand their experiences and why they were the way they were. You have strong, adaptive beliefs about who you are as a person. You feel more connected to those around you, experience more patience towards yourself and others and am more aware of what emotions and thoughts are coming up for you and why. But how do you go from one picture to another?

I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who helps clients move from that first picture to the second. From overwhelm to clarity using trauma informed therapies like EMDR and CRM, along with parts work through an IFS lens. I became EMDR certified after seeing firsthand how these approaches help people heal at a core level, not just cope. I believe in and am committed to the ongoing pursuit of growing my skills and knowledge so I can offer the most effective and attune support to the people I work with.

Outside of the office, I enjoy being active, reading, eating delicious food (whether that’s home-cooked or out to eat) and can usually be found trying out a new hobby.

I hope we get the opportunity to work together towards healing and growth.
