About the Clinical Internship Program

Our internship program here at Touchpoint Counseling is designed to give you experience in treating individuals, teens and couples from a trauma lens and work through the impact of trauma in their lives. Our program is designed to prepare you for licensure and give you information and training critical in your work with individuals who have experienced trauma. Our goal is to provide a comprehensive internship opportunity that reaches behind the confines of the CBT box, one that is based in leading trauma modalities within the field and incorporates information from neuroscience. We are dedicated to your professional growth and would love the opportunity to help you move forward in your professional journey.

Eligibility Criteria

Enrollment in a graduate-level social work or a CACREP-accredited counseling program

Completion of a graduate level course in Clinical Diagnosis by the start of your internship

Enthusiastic about taking on new opportunities and trauma based therapeutic modalities

2. Include in the email the expected start date and end date of your internship.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the application deadline?

There is no application deadline. The number of internship spots available changes each quarter/semester. We will let you know if there are no spots available based on your requested start time of internship. We take applications year-round.

How many hours a week will the internship require?

This is based on your school requirements and will differ by applicant.

Will I be compensated during my internship?

No, this is not a paid internship position.

Can I do the internship remotely?

Our internship opportunities are currently in person only so that we can provide you with the most comprehensive of internship opportunities.

Where will my internship be located?

We have two offices, one in Gig Harbor and one in Puyallup. We will take your preference into account although a final decision will be made 6-8 weeks out from your internship start time as location is based off of supervisor availability, office availability for your requested schedule and case load needs.

What about opportunities for group therapy?

Yes, we have opportunities for group therapy. If your school requires you to have group therapy experience, we are able to connect you with one of our multiple groups that occur weekly. If you have an idea for a group or are interested in leading one, we are open to helping you make it happen!
