Emily Nilsson, MSW, LSWAIC

I chose to become a therapist because I believe in the power of stories, healing, and finding understanding after trauma. Just understanding why our own stomachs hurts, or what happened can really help bring peace. Trauma happens. With the right support, the scary things that happen to a person can become a piece of the story, and not take up the whole book.

I am deeply excited by each person’s own knowledge, courage, and individual magic that has gotten them this far. I believe in the power of holding space, listening, and supporting clients through the intense and important work of processing trauma.

I am excited to start my journey as a therapist and support thriving. I am trained in EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing). EMDR is an evidenced based trauma therapy.

In my own life I love to garden, hike, and swim. As a proud auntie of 10 I enjoy hosting sleepovers, birthday trips, and other aunt related shenanigans.

I bring honesty, humor, and the belief you know you best to the therapy room. My life’s work is supporting the transition from staying a live to truly living.

“My mission in life is not merely to survive but to thrive. and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.” ~ Maya Angelou
