Sometimes we have deep wounds that have been covered for years. It may be a significant traumatic event, adverse childhood experiences of abuse or neglect, or painful moments in adulthood. These events may shape the way we see ourselves, others, and the world around us. Whatever the wounds, when we find they are impacting our life in the here and now it is sometimes necessary to clean the wounds in order to allow the body and brain to heal. This can be difficult and scary. I am passionate about meeting clients in their pain and walking alongside them with non-judgmental compassion as we work toward a more positive future. I admire the strength of my clients, survivors, who are willing to revisit and clean out difficult life experiences.
Professionally, I am an EMDR trained Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate. I completed my Master of Arts in Counseling and Care at Faith International University and Seminary in Tacoma, WA. I am a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors. I use a client-centered, trauma-informed approach. While I have a background in Christian Counseling, I will honor my client’s spirituality at all times. As I continue to work toward my LMHC, I am excited to further develop my skills in Ego State Therapy, Developmental Needs Meeting Strategy, Internal Family Systems, and EMDR with children.
I am especially passionate about working with teens and young adults, and volunteer weekly at a teen support group through a local church. I also have a heart for walking alongside survivors of sex-trafficking, trauma, betrayal trauma and PTSD. I believe all people deserve comprehensive treatment with compassion and respect.
Personally, I enjoy board games (I reeeally enjoy board games) and spending time with my immediate and extended family. I am a wife and mother of four. I enjoy camping, making delicious soup, painting, singing, and curling up on the sofa with a cup of coffee and one of our many animals. I’m not a huge fan of doing dishes.
