Lee Severson, LMHC

For as long as I can remember I have wanted to help people. I remember talking on the phone with friends when I was younger and helping them work through their relationship struggles. I thought I wanted to be an artist, but it was clear I was meant to help others. It’s an honor to have the opportunity to serve the community as a therapist.

My clients have told me I’m a great listener, I’m empathetic, I ask the right questions and I’m interactive in therapy. I use empathy and compassion to help build a safe and trusting environment where my clients can feel comfortable being themselves and discussing their struggles.

Professionally, I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with over 14 years of community mental health experience. I have worked with people from all walks of life who have experienced anxiety, depression, trauma, relational stress, chronic pain, grief & loss and life transitions. I use an eclectic approach in therapy. I always use a person-centered approach to help my clients feel heard and validated. I ask a lot of questions to help prompt ideas and resolutions they haven’t thought of. I believe one of the most important things to generate change is the therapeutic relationship.

In addition to being a therapist, I’m a husband, a father and a Seattle sports fan. I enjoy spending time with my family, watching my daughters play softball and soccer, listening to music and snuggling with my dog, Griffey.
