Stop Surviving. Start Thriving.

Trauma can leave you carrying things for years while still trying to keep life moving forward. Even when things look fine on the outside, something still feels heavy underneath.

Starting therapy can feel uncomfortable too, especially when it has taken so much just to get through the day. Support here is steady, grounded, and trauma-focused. The goal is to help you feel safe enough to begin working through what you have been carrying alone for a long time.

Trauma Therapy That Goes Deeper

Trauma can stay present long after the experience is over. The focus here is on helping you process what you have carried for so long so those patterns no longer keep showing up in the same ways.

Trauma Therapy

Trauma changes the way you experience yourself, other people, and the world around you. It can make it hard to feel safe, trust your reactions, or fully relax, even when part of you knows things are okay.

Therapy helps make sense of those responses instead of judging them. As trauma is processed, it becomes easier to move through life without feeling controlled by the past.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) helps the brain process experiences that feel stuck. Instead of talking through the same thing over and over, EMDR works with the brain and nervous system to help reduce the intensity, emotional reactions, and negative beliefs connected to those experiences.

As those experiences are reprocessed, people often notice they feel less reactive, more present, and no longer pulled back into the same patterns.

Comprehensive Resource Model is a deeper approach often used for intense or complex trauma. It helps create a stronger sense of internal safety and connection before moving into experiences that may have previously felt too overwhelming to process.

CRM helps people stay more grounded and present while working through experiences that can otherwise lead to shutdown, disconnection, or feeling emotionally flooded.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) helps make sense of the different parts of you that show up in different moments. The part that shuts down. The part that stays guarded. The part that keeps pushing through no matter how exhausted you feel.

Instead of fighting against those reactions, IFS helps you understand where they came from and what they are trying to protect. As that understanding grows, those responses begin to feel less overwhelming and controlling.

Neurofeedback helps train the brain to function in a healthier, more regulated way. When the brain is stuck in survival mode, it can show up as anxiety, ADHD, feeling constantly on edge, difficulty focusing, or trouble calming down.

Using real-time feedback, the brain begins learning new ways to regulate itself. As the brain becomes more balanced, people often notice improved focus, emotional regulation, sleep, and a greater sense of calm.

About TouchPoint Counseling

TouchPoint Counseling is a team of therapists who work with people feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or as though something just isn't right.

The practice was started by Jackie Smith, a licensed clinical social worker, and has grown into a team that works with adults, teens, children, and families, with training in EMDR, neurofeedback, and other trauma-focused approaches.

Therapy at TouchPoint centers on understanding how your patterns developed and what lies underneath them. As that begins to shift, reactions change, patterns loosen, and life can start to feel more steady and manageable.

Yes. In-person appointments are available at our office locations in Gig Harbor and Puyallup.

Both options are available, so you can choose what feels most comfortable.

You do not need to have that figured out before starting. The first few sessions focus on understanding what is going on and what has been showing up. From there, the approach is tailored to what will be most helpful.

Session costs can vary depending on the provider and type of service.

If you are using insurance, your out-of-pocket cost will depend on your specific plan. This can be reviewed during your consultation so you have a clear understanding before getting started.

We work with adults, teens, children, and families. The issues addressed can look like anxiety, stress, behavior challenges, or ongoing patterns at home or in daily life. Each person is met based on what is happening in their life.
